Dr. Roger A. Desmarais, PhD.

SPECIALIZATION

Roger has over 30 years providing Leadership, Managerial, Cultural, Behavioral and Organizational Change Programs to large and small corporations both as an internal and external consultant and as manager of his own consulting firms. He has specialized in working the ‘people-side’ of the enterprise either individually or in groups, inter-departmentally or inter-organizationally.

BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

Prior to founding his own consulting firms, Dr. Desmarais was a Regional Director for the Leadership and Management Development Division for the eleven Kaiser Permanente Hospitals of Northern California. Roger was subsequently hired in San Francisco by the Bechtel Power Corporation (the largest independent engineering and construction company in the world) to design and manage the corporation’s Organization and Management Development Department in the Los Angeles Division. His role was to design and implement programs that would create more productive teams within Bechtel and the clients, as well as the interface effectiveness between Bechtel and their utility clients in construction, start-up and operations of many nuclear power plants across the nation. Realizing the clear value of being outside the organizational structure, Roger founded his own independent consulting firms in order to bring to organizational systems and cultures state-of-the-art insight and expertise gathered through the experiences of working within the client systems but with a ‘third-party’ eye for strengths and weaknesses. He specialized in individual and team effectiveness through executive coaching, large and small systems integration, organizational and cultural change programs, and behavioral enhancement programs to support re-organization and/or downsizing efforts, mergers and acquisitions, start-up and transformational programs for companies experiencing growth. Early in his consulting and training career, Roger was Trainer of Trainers for VISTA at the Kansas City Center for the four neighboring states.

EDUCATION

Roger designed his own doctoral program in Organization Development and Human Relations through the University Without Walls out of Antioch Ohio at a time in the evolution of such educational dimensions when there were no viable programs in existence. He has several Masters’ degrees in Education, Literature, Philosophy and Theology. As a Jesuit for almost 20 years, he designed and managed a Graduate Degree Program in Education, which is still in existence some thirty years later.

PERSONAL

Roger has taught poetry in his past years as an educator and continues to write poetry as a reflection of his observations of people in organizations either working hard at changing their lives, or denying the value of moving beyond the confines of the narrow nine dots of their past experiences.
